If you didn't already know, Bird River Band has a new tour bus!
It's "Sparky," our new Tesla Model Y.
We picked it up in late November 2023, and as of late April 2024, we have already put 15,000 km on it. That's 3,000 km per month. It has been awesome so far.
Our longest trip was down to the Texas Coast, across to California, and then back home through some USA National Parks.
We got two promotional months (December and April) of full self-driving (FSD) for free.
While in Texas, we stopped at a Tesla dealership and checked out the new Cybertruck. It is pretty spectacular but complete overkill for Bird River Band's use. Sparky was able to carry all our travel gear: two suitcases, camping equipment, a small PA system, microphones and stands, an acoustic guitar, and road snacks with room to spare. There was a big reaction to the vehicle wherever we went, except in California, where it was ignored. Some responses were positive, some were inquisitive, and some were negative. The most frequent comment was on the license plate: "Y’all from Canada? You got all the way here in that thing?"
The reaction on the road prompted me to write this song and put a decidedly Canadian slant on it.

Verse 2:
Buddy Bubba told me you can get’em on line
He’d Tindered up a beauty that would take his hand.
So I poked around the internet to see what I could find
and there she was a glowing oh so “Cyber” grand.
Verse 3:
She was a breath takin beauty like a vat of French Poutin
Love at first sight I got a tingle up my spine
She had a body slicker than I’ve ever seen
Her top was silver grey - a perfect match for mine
Chorus:
F C
Her Kilowatts were glowing and her battery wouldn’t end
E A
She could charge in 20 minutes and I want her
A7
for a friend
F C
She could pre condition easy, her discharging
A7
sexy slow
D D9 Eb9 D
I feel the heat of her wheel and seat in the
G G7 C
deep Canadian snow
Verse 4:
So I put up my deposit and it took a long time
finally got a date with her in Saskatoon
Another 80 grand and she became all mine
We started our new life a cruising under the moon
Verse 5:
We drove and drove exploring this great land
Cruisen Manitoba, things were just the best
We even toured Alberta and the great tar sands
stopping at the charging stations throughout the west
Verse 6:
I sensed she needed something, so I thought I’d spice it up.
I got that full self driving option for my girl
it cost me several thousand and I know it sounds a lot
but it was for my baby so I gave it a whirl.
Chorus:
Her Kilowatts were glowing and her battery wouldn’t end
She could charge in 20 minutes and she’s now more than a friend
She would pre condition easy, her discharging sexy slow
I need the heat of her wheel and seat in the deep Canadian snow
Verse 7:
She would often take me shopping to the malls from store to store
She seemed so dog gone happy with the freedom she now got
I didnt have to wander out and find her any more
She’d even come and get me from the parking lot.
Verse 8:
But then one morning at the crack of dawn
That full self drivin thing went oh so wrong
I spotted her a leavin with that trashy Rivian
My baby’s gone and left me with a sad country song
Chorus:
Her Kilowatts were glowing and her battery wouldn't end
She could charge in 20 minutes, she was much more than a friend
She would pre condition easy, her discharge oh so slow
I miss the heat of her wheel and seat in the deep Canadian snow
Verse 9:
So often when I’m lonely I still check her on the app
She’s a cruisen California with that Rivian Trash
She’s clearly really happy, I can’t blame her for that...
If I wasn’t so darn love struck - could have saved a lotta cash...
Outro:
(Spoken)
C
Now Don’t y’all worry about me... I’m okay...
G7 C
My F-150 took me back ...
Out takes, not used...
maybe sheed of stayed if i was
my baby left me stranded and went out on her own
my sadness cant be measured by
i hope she is happy self a driving the land
i so miss being with her i am so so sad
maybe if that sexy rivian had not caught my eye
I hope that she is happy where ever she is charging
maybe i shouldn't of spent so much time checking out that Rivian at the last charging
